10:08 am – I attended Jeremy Stamper Roy’s first appearance for the charges laid against him on July 13, 2019.
The only two of the loony crew who accompanied him were his mother, Christina, and Richard Pollington. They were well behaved; not a single upraised middle finger to be seen.
I spoke to the Crown. At the end of it, the Crown added a note to the file asking the court to impose a condition that Jeremy not live in the building. No guarantees (it’s up to the judge).
I also saw Jeremy, Christina and Richard Pollington go into a private room to speak to duty council. Christina came out looking furious. Well, there’s a lot of that going around.
Jeremy was given disclosure and the case was remanded until September 19, 2019 at 9am (John Sopinka Courthouse, Courtroom 204).
As I approached the building after the court appearance, Christina Stamper was sitting in her vehicle with the door open, filming me as I approached the building. She had the flash on her cellphone on, which made it easy to tell. Or maybe she wanted me to know. Christina is the kind of person who starts trouble, then claims she was the victim.
In any event, I don’t much care if Christina films me on the grounds of the building. It’s being followed around with a camera held by an antagonistic douchebag that annoys me. Christina wasn’t following me. (One could argue that the rest of the description fits.)
20:35 – I’ve finally had a chance to go through the Occurrence Reports, officer’s notes, etc etc that I picked up from the police station on King William yesterday (in response to an FoI request I’d made the previous month). It was quickly obvious to me why the police thought I was reporting a hate crime when I called in the complaint about the word “fagit” carved in my front door on December 6, 2018 (and it’s more than a little ridiculous, like so much else in this circus). I’ll post the documents and recordings and explain what happened in detail. It appears to be an overabundance of political correctness. (And, in retrospect I do believe it was a hate bias crime. It was motivated, at least in part, by their distaste for a “faggot” living in the building. I do think an “investigation” that didn’t blame the victim would have been helpful to this entire situation.)
The cops have a lot wrong in some of the reports, and by “wrong” I mean factual errors.
To this point there have been at least seventeen complaints to police (at least 10 from our landlord and his crew) resulting in 15 responses, and charges being laid in two cases (against Jeremy Stamper). The tally is at 19 hours 0 minutes of hearing time at the LTB, in 15 hearings, two by telephone, thirteen in person (counting the Case Management Hearing and mediation session of May 19, 2017 as hearings). It has also used up 9 hours and 51 minutes of a mediator’s time. On the criminal side, it has used up whatever time the pre-enquete hearing used when process was issued on Pollington’s private complaint, and three short appearances. Call it three hearings, 65 minutes of a judge’s time.
